Englewood Cliffs, NJ (September 16, 2016) – Bauer Media Group USA, the No. 1 seller of magazines at retail in the country, today announces the appointment of Petra Gasser as the company’s Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective immediately.

Gasser succeeds SVP and CFO Rich Teehan who will retire, today, after his 36-year tenure with the company. Teehan will continue to consult for Bauer until March 31, 2017 in order to ensure a smooth transition. Teehan joined Bauer Media Group USA in August of 1980 as one of its first employees and has overseen its financial operations for the past three and a half decades.

“A lot of companies talk about being a ‘family.’ But where do you see employees staying loyal for 36 years nowadays? As employee number three, Rich has helped shape the company from its exciting, but also rough beginnings, all the way to where it is today. We are grateful for his years of dedication and commitment to the company and wish him well in his next phase of life,” Hubert Boehle, CEO and president of Bauer Media Group USA said.

On the appointment of Gasser, he added, “We’re thrilled to have Petra join our executive team. I’m confident that her leadership abilities and impressive track record will play a vital role in Bauer’s continued growth and future success.“

Gasser has 25 years of financial experience working in the media industry. Most recently, she was Head of Controlling at parent company Bauer Media Group based in Hamburg, Germany for the past six years. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Finance at Arvato Distribution, a Bertelsmann company headquartered in Harsewinkel, Germany. As part of the transition into her new role, she joined Bauer Media Group USA in June as Director of Financial Technology.

“I’m beyond excited for this opportunity at Bauer Media Group USA,” said Gasser. “I know that I have big shoes to fill but we have a fantastic team in place and together, I look forward to further expanding and strengthening Bauer’s position in the U.S. media landscape.”

“I’m very proud of my team and what we’ve accomplished over the years. I’m fortunate to have worked with an extraordinary group of talented people and thankful for the long-lasting friendships I’ve gained over the decades,” said Teehan. “As I close the door on a major chapter in my life, I feel confident in passing the torch to someone as perfectly matched for the role as Petra.”
